PT312

PT312 is a new Pioneer hybrid for 2023. It provides a high gross output yield with a very high oil content. PT312 combines Protector Sclerotinia tolerance with turnip yellows virus resistance and pod shatter tolerance.

PT312 is the second Pioneer Protector Sclerotinia winter oilseed rape hybrid offered to UK growers for commercial planting.

In addition to sclerotinia tolerance it is complemented by other notable levels of early growth. An interim 2023 ADAS field trial has just reported that PT312 gave ground cover of 65.0% and a vigour score of 6.7 on the 17th October 2022. On the 23rd March its vigour score was assessed at 8.2 and ground cover was 73.3%. These are both impressive vigour scores and underline the ability of the newest Pioneer hybrids to grow strongly in the autumn and the spring. These scores significantly exceeded those of all the check varieties in the trial.

  • Gross Output of 103%
  • Top oil content of 47.6%
  • Turnip yellows virus (TuYV) resistance
  • Light Leaf Spot 5, Stem Canker 7
  • Large stature hybrid that has scored 9 for lodging and 8 for stem stiffness

Top level gross output and agronomics

PT312 has given a very high gross output yield of 103% of the Control yield with a top oil content of 47.6%.

This top-level yield performance comes with an outstanding trait combination of Protector Sclerotinia tolerance, turnip yellows virus resistance and pod shatter tolerance.

PT312 scores 5 for both light leaf spot and 7 for phoma resistance.

Very High Oil

PT312 has given the highest oil content of any variety in 2021 & 2022 UK National List Trials. This level of oil content is likely to generate significant oil bonus payments. An illustration of the type of oil bonus payments that may be achieved can be seen in the table below.
