Can you tell us a little about your background and what led you to join Corteva?
I’m the youngest of five boys, raised on a mixed farm in County Kildare, Ireland. After secondary school, I pursued a four-year degree in Animal & Crop Production at University College Dublin, followed by a research master’s on the university farm.
Shortly after completing my studies, I came across a job opportunity with Dow AgroSciences in the UK and made the move in February 2010. Over the past 15 years, I’ve held six different roles across three locations. Since January 2021, I’ve been serving as the UK & Ireland Country Leader at Corteva.
Do you have a connection to agriculture outside of your role at Corteva?
Absolutely. Growing up on the family farm instilled a deep-rooted interest in agriculture and food production. From a young age, I kept around 30 hens and sold eggs to neighbours, teachers and even the bus driver! I reinvested the profits into buying lambs, straw for baling, and eventually cattle.
Between the ages of 16 and 23, I bred pedigree Suffolk sheep—a venture I truly loved. I hope to return to pedigree breeding someday, when time and access to grass allow.
What has been the most interesting project you’ve worked on at Corteva, or can you share a standout moment from your time in this role?
There have been many memorable moments, and I’ve genuinely enjoyed my journey at Corteva. I’ve had the privilege of leading the Irish business during a significant growth phase, launching innovative products, navigating Brexit, and supporting crisis management efforts.
One standout experience was the merger of Dow, DuPont and Pioneer in 2017-18. At the time, I was in my first leadership role as the Crop Protection Sales Manager. It was also my introduction to commercial policy and deployment across our UK & Ireland business partners. We had an exceptional team with diverse backgrounds, and I look back with pride at how far we’ve come.
How do you stay up to date with the latest advancements and trends in agriculture?
Our teams and leaders play a vital role in staying connected to the market. Understanding how it evolves and how innovation progresses is essential. We rely on continuous feedback, market intelligence and insights to anticipate industry changes over the next 5 to 10 years.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to follow a similar career path as you?
Hard work always pays off. Stay curious and open to opportunities, even if they take you off your planned path. Flexibility is key. Agriculture is a rewarding industry, with food production at its core and that makes it incredibly fulfilling to be part of.
From your perspective, what sets Corteva apart from other companies in the industry?
Corteva’s breadth and depth of offerings are unmatched. We provide solutions across nearly every segment in the UK & Ireland - from seed and crop protection to biologicals.
In crop protection alone, we offer innovative tools for wheat, barley, potatoes, sugar beet, oilseed rape, grassland, maize, amenity crops, fruit and vegetables. Our pipeline is equally impressive, with more key solutions set to launch than I’ve seen in my 15 years working at Corteva. It’s an exciting place to be!
What are you most looking forward to in the coming year at Corteva?
We’ve successfully launched new solutions for grassland, maize, cereals and oilseed rape in the 2025 season. Looking ahead to 2026, I’m excited about our comprehensive offering for the expanding maize crop in the UK. With seed, herbicide, inoculant, biologicals and nitrogen management solutions, it’s a unique package - and one I expect will continue to grow.
Would you recommend Corteva as a place to work?
Absolutely. Corteva is home to fantastic people, incredible products and an unrivalled pipeline. Our teams are making a real difference — and that’s what it’s all about!
Outside of work, where are we most likely to find you or what activities do you enjoy?
I spend most of my time with my wife and our two wonderful daughters, aged 3 and 1 - they keep us on our toes! I also enjoy staying active through running, tennis, long dog walks and gym sessions.
